While the Travancore Foundation was formed in 2009, Travancore Senior Living was born out of a profound realisation by Mr. Jiji Philip that the aging populace deserved more than just state-of-the-art accommodation. With 17 years of exceptional operational expertise and trust through the foundation, it became evident that the scale of the opportunity ahead extended beyond its scope. Founder
Mr. Jiji Philip, a trailblazer in social development and senior care brings to the
organisation, a combination of deep strategic insight and operational expertise. With a
Masters in Social Sciences and a Postgraduate Diploma in Personnel Management and
Labour Laws, his illustrious career of 35 years includes Tata Tea Ltd. and SIPD.
Mr. Philip has always been driven by a sense of servitude and philanthropy. His 9 years
of leadership roles in the Christian ministry has enabled him to work closely with a
spectrum of organisations and respected church leaders, gaining extensive experience
in managing mission schools, community centres, vocational training schools, and
counselling centres. His core competencies include diverse aspects such as senior
living, financial and construction management, community development, and social
welfare within the charitable domain.
With a personal commitment to address the needs of the often-neglected elderly
population, he has dedicated himself in creating environments where they receive
genuine care, comfort and dignity. Guided by this vision, he co-founded Travancore
Foundation, a trusted name in quality senior care in Kerala. He currently serves as
Managing Trustee and CEO of Travancore Foundation and as Director of TERCA
(Travancore Education and Research Centre on Ageing). In addition, he is the Managing
Director of both Travancore Senior Living Private Ltd. and Travancore Homes Private
Ltd., Secretary of the Senior Living Association of Kerala (SLAK), and Vice Chair of the
India Chapter of CommonAge.
Director
Dr. Renu Abraham Varughese is an award-winning clinical gerontologist, educator, and
global speaker with recognised leadership in ageing, health, and evidence-based
practice. Her academic and professional focus includes health assessment, health
promotion, and statistics for nurses, reflecting her commitment to research-driven
practice and impactful education.
Her distinguished contributions have received several honours including the US
Fulbright Specialist Award, the US Nehru Fulbright Professional Excellence Award,
CommonAge’s Outstanding Contribution Award, the Fellow distinction from the New
York Academy of Medicine, the ASLI Founder’s Excellence Award, and the Sath Sevana
Award from the Indo American Press Club, New York.
She serves as Associate Professor at Mercy University, New York, and holds key
leadership roles as Chairperson of the Travancore Foundation, Director of
CommonAge, Asia Chapter Head of CommonAge, and Managing Director of TERCA.
Dr. Varughese received the US-Nehru Fulbright award twice, first for professional
excellence focused on culturally appropriate resident assessment for long-term care in
India, and later as a Fulbright Specialist training elder-care workforce in South Africa
and Sub-Saharan countries.
She has also played a definitive role in building capacity through simulation-based
learning, including establishing India’s first simulation-based learning centre forgeriatric training at Travancore Foundation. Her efforts have helped the foundation
achieve platinum status accreditation, as well as retirement-centre accreditation
standards with Standard Wise International, Australia.
Director
Mr. Mansur Dalal is a renowned architect, industry thought leader, speaker and author specialising in multiple facets of senior living and care. He is Founder and Chairman Emeritus of ASLI, the only pan-India association dedicated to senior living and care, and served as Immediate Past Chairman of CommonAge, the Commonwealth-wide
association for ageing across 56 countries. He sits on the boards of the Global Ageing Network (Washington, USA) and Baycrest Academy for Research and Education (Canada). Invited by the Government of India, Mansur contributed to the development of national standards and regulations in the elderly living sector. He is the founder of ELD-AR, an AI-driven palliative care application for Alzheimer’s patients, and holds India’s first patent for this technology. An active international speaker, Mansur has presented on ageing, senior care standards, and ethical migration of caregivers at more than 25 conferences across 14 countries.
